Category: the Rant Board
Each day, this nation gets further away from God and closer to seeing His
wrath and judgment unleashed on our once great land. On top of legally
slaughtering over 4,000 innocent babies each day, making a mockery of God's
Holy Institution of Marriage, embracing every type of sexual perversion man
has thought up in his depraved mind, worshipping the false gods and idols of
the world, and literally living in all-out rebellion to our Creator and His
Truth, the United States is now standing with the ENEMIES OF ISRAEL! My
friend, if we ever wanted to experience the wrath of God, we are doing
everything we possibly can to see that it happens.
Memo to President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton: Jerusalem belongs to
Israel, ALL of it! If Israel wants to build settlements in Jerusalem, they
can. The enemies of Israel have NO CLAIM to this land!!! We are on the verge
of seeing God's judgment poured out on this wicked nation, and now we are
siding with the enemies of Israel? We are out of our mind! This is like
going up to the biggest guy you can find on the street and spitting in his
face. We are literally putting our middle finger in the air and screaming
profanities at the top of our lungs to God!!!
Please, do yourself a favor right now and get your Bible and sit down and
spend the next 10 minutes reading the anchor verses for today, Genesis
12:1-7, 13:14-16, 15:18; Deuteronomy 9:4-6; Joshua 1:1-11; 21:43-45. You
could spend hours reading all the passages in God's Word that confirm that
modern-day Israel is the land God promised to Abraham and gave to His
children. You do not have to be a Bible scholar to quickly realize in just
the few key passages I have given you today that the land of Israel is
indeed the exact land God Himself promised to His children 4,000 years ago,
and fulfilled that promise in 1385 B.C. when Joshua took possession of that
land.
Having laid the Biblical case to support that the land of Israel belongs to
the Jewish people, now you can see why giving away even one inch of that
land to anyone else is going against God Himself. No person, no nation, has
the right to give away what God promised and gave to the Jewish people.
Those who do make themselves an enemy of God! Over and over throughout the
Bible and human history, nations have invaded this land, taken it over, only
to be defeated in the end. The land of Israel is only 20,330 sq km, slightly
smaller than the state of New Jersey. Out of the billions of square miles
that exist on this earth, this is the only place on the planet God literally
promised and gave to His children. For anyone to go in and try to give a
piece of that land away is foolish.
That is why the current "peace plan" the United States has had such a large
role in working out will never work and has actually put our nation on the
opposite side of God again! Let me be clear. The Gaza Strip belongs to
ISRAEL! The West Bank belongs to ISRAEL! Jerusalem, all of it, belongs to
ISRAEL! For this nation to be involved in any deals, even under the guise of
"peace," that involves giving away the land God gave to the children of
Israel is taking on God Himself! Not to mention that this land is being
given away to the ENEMIES OF ISRAEL!!!
My friend, one of the problems many have with the Bible is that they can't
understand why a God of love would command His children to go to war and
"Kill every man, woman, child, and living thing" as He did many times in the
Old Testament. The reason was this. God in His omniscience knew that the
enemies of Israel, those who came to possess their land, had no desire for
peace but the complete destruction and annihilation of the Jewish people.
The complete obliteration of the Jewish people was their ONLY goal, not
peace. Sadly, there are some people who have no desire for peace, only death
and destruction and you either destroy them or they destroy you. That is one
of the sad realties of living in this fallen and evil world.
For those who oppose the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, they either don't
understand or are completely blind to the fact that there are people on this
planet whose only goal is the complete destruction of the United States and
every person who lives here. That means you and your family too! The sad
reality is that there are very real people alive this very moment whose very
real goal is the complete destruction of the United States. We will either
kill them or they will kill us. We are blessed that our forefathers
understood the evil that exits in this world or we would not be here today,
enjoying the wonderful freedoms and life we do.
Israel also clearly understands the reality that there are people who desire
their death and destruction. They don't have the luxury of great oceans on
either side as we do and their enemies literally live all around them. That
is what makes this current "peace plan" so silly. To actually take some of
the small amount of land that belongs to Israel and literally give it to
their enemies is absurd and ridiculous. It will only embolden and empower
those who seek the destruction of Israel. Again, make no mistake about it.
While we and others seek "peace," it takes TWO to make peace. Despite the
claims by the Palestinian leadership, their goal is NOT peace but the
destruction of Israel.
I have always been amused at why anyone thinks it is necessary to give the
little strip of land God gave to Israel away to her enemies, when Israel is
surrounded by Arab nations with VAST AMOUNTS of land who could easily
assimilate their Arab brothers into their countries. Why do the Palestinians
have to live on the land God gave to Israel when there is plenty of land in
neighboring Arab countries they could live on? What is wrong with a "peace
plan" that gave some of the land in surrounding Arab countries to the
Palestinians?
I love you and care about you so much. I want to close today with a powerful
promise God made to Abraham 4,000 years ago in Genesis 12:3, "I will bless
those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on
earth will be blessed through you." This one verse of Scripture is why what
is happening in Israel right now is so critical to THIS NATION! In being
part of a plan to give away the land God gave to Israel to anyone,
especially her enemies who seek her destruction, puts us on the wrong side
of God. We should be seeking the BLESSINGS of God, not His CURSES!
Know that I am praying for you today. Even though most Jewish people have
rejected Christ as their Savior, blinded to the reality that He is the
Messiah they were promised in the Old Testament, they were, are, and always
will be God's chosen people. The promise God gave Abraham in Genesis 12:3 is
still in effect today. Our Christian faith is traced back through the
children of Israel. The last events of this world will be played out in
Israel. That is why we need to pray for and support the Jewish people and
God's plan for the land of Israel. Our blessings in life come from following
God not being in opposition to God!
Also, be praying for this special group of people God chose to reveal
Himself to and carry His message to the world. It was through the Jewish
people God brought His Son, the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Wonderful
groups like Jews for Jesus have done a great work in bringing the fact the
Messiah prophesied throughout the Old Testament, is Jesus! Jesus is the
fulfillment of all of those Old Testament prophecies, and despite the fact
He was rejected by his own people, today millions of Jewish people have come
to know Jesus as their personal Savior by faith. In Heaven there will be no
Jew or Gentile, only those who have a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ!!!
In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller
Okay, since this is on the Rant board, and not Religion topics where it should be, and since I'm a little less than sober right now, I'm going to take advantage and post my true thoughts. Consider yourself warned!
this nation is getting farther away from God? As a nation in general, that's a good thing. In the individual sense, that's a matter of opinion, and I could care less what people believe in, as long as they don't shove it down my throat. Also, this is far from the first time you've posted something like this. What do you think is going to come of this? Well, one person's opinion, I think you need to take this shit off the boards, and bring it back to your religious nut chain letters where they belong, where those who subscribe can see it.
that's all I have to say. After all, this is on the rant board, and I'm keeping up with the ranting theme. I'm sick of seeing this bull shit cluttering up valuable space. Please take it to your sheltered safe whining religion board where it belongs! thank you!
In accordance with our strict "family friendly" policy, any profane words in the following post will be replaced by substitutes as supplied by my 3-year-old nephew.
What a bunch of horse poopies! While I've heard the bedtime stories my mommy used to read to me, she taught me to understand the difference between stories and reality. One chosen land? Israel? Out of all the world, Isreal? That's a long way from the United States. This God guy sounds like one cold hearted Meany. The rest of us don't get to be part of the club? Get outa my face, you silly-looking, dirty-underwear-wearing, coocoohead.
I loved the last post. Thanks for the laugh.
The following is in response to the original author of this nonsense, Bill Keller, and is not meant to express my views towards Christianity as a whole. I know many tolerant or at least respectful Christians, including several conservative ones. But this is the rant board after all.
"Each day, this nation gets further away from God and closer to seeing His wrath and judgment unleashed on our once great land."
Yes, it was great before the deforestation, the Industrial Revolution, pollutants, the depletion of the OZone and the general distruction of the planet. That would make any god mad!
"On top of legally slaughtering over 4,000 innocent babies each day..."
You mean fetuses not babies, unless we're talking really late term, which, to my knowledge, is illegal. I hardly think the murder of so many children would go unnoticed. If your people would use condoms and other forms of birth control, you wouldn't have so many unplanned pregnancies and there would be no need for abortions.
"making a mockery of God's Holy Institution of Marriage"
Ah, you mean all the heterosexuals divorcing over a bad hair day or maybe the ones who refuse to accept abuse or to live a lie when they've truly fallen in love with someone else!
"embracing every type of sexual perversion man has thought up in his depraved mind"
I'm glad you agree that those Catholic priests who rape little boys are depraved. But wait! They're Christian!
"worshipping the false gods and idols of the world"
No, I worship the Hellenic pantheon not money, fame or Apple's line of products, thanks.
"and literally living in all-out rebellion to our Creator and His Truth"
I have no problems with your deity of choice, only in how you worship Him and make all Christians look bad, which is totally unfair to them.
"the United States is now standing with the ENEMIES OF ISRAEL!"
Since when has the United States been against Israel? I've never heard them supporting Palestine's rights.
"We are on the verge of seeing God's judgment poured out on this wicked nation"
Guess that'll deflate America's head a bit huh?
"We are literally putting our middle finger in the air and screaming profanities at the top of our lungs to God!"
Oh is that what all that noise was about? I guess you got tired of Him not listening to you so decided to show Him just who's boss. My people call that hubris.
"Please, do yourself a favor right now and get your Bible"
Only if you get Theogony, the Iliad and The odyssey. You might want to read some of the Delphic Maxims while you're at it.
"You could spend hours reading all the passages in God's Word that confirm that modern-day Israel is the land God promised to Abraham and gave to His children."
I could, but I'd much rather read a history book about the political boundaries that were set up by man after World War II. You see, it's these boundaries by which we live. If that weren't the case, Greece would be much larger than it is today and Cyprus would be a part of it or at the very least, not divided.
"You do not have to be a Bible scholar to quickly realize in just the few key passages I have given you today that the land of Israel is indeed the exact land God Himself promised to His children 4,000 years ago,
and fulfilled that promise in 1385 B.C."
And it's now, hmm, 2010 CE and whether the promise was fulfilled or not, times, society and humanity has changed.
"Having laid the Biblical case to support that the land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people, now you can see why giving away even one inch of that land to anyone else is going against God Himself."
If that's the case, than let Him deal with it. He hasn't said anything so far.
"No person, no nation, has the right to give away what God promised and gave to the Jewish people."
What about the Native Americans whose land was stolen and conned away from them and who respected it and kept it safe? If you want to see land returned, then give them back their's first. If not, then you're just being a hypocrit like those whom you claim to despise. But wait, you say. You live here now, so I guess that means you can't do that. And guess what" The Palestinians live on that land that you're all fighting over. So if you can't give up the land you now call home, why should they?
Sadly, there are some people who have no desire for peace, only death and destruction and you either destroy them or they destroy you.
Uh yes. That's one of the reasons behind war. Congratulations on using some common sense!
"For those who oppose the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, they either don't understand or are completely blind to the fact that there are people on this planet whose only goal is the complete destruction of the United States and every person who lives here."
I don't support the killing of innocent people anywhere, especially civilians. But could your statement have to do with the fact that The United States doesn't know when to butt out of the business of other countries, lies to get what they want, promising whatever the desperate countries want to hear and then leaves their partners holding the bag or is it simply because they're arrogant enough to believe that these actions won't catch up with them? Most powerful countries, by the way, have people whose goal it is to destroy them. America just has more of them.
"While we and others seek "peace," it takes TWO to make peace."
The last time I checked, people who seek peace from a war don't encourage their fellows to kill anyone who's against them.
"Despite the claims by the Palestinian leadership, their goal is NOT peace but the destruction of Israel."
Their goal is to lead normal and decent lives, to raise their children in a world free of bombs and body parts strewn all over the place and to gain back their dignity. I'm not a Palestinian, but I think I got at least some of those right.
Guys, I know this is getting old and all that, but just ignore this board topic. He won't stop doing all these board topics, so telling him to stop won't really get you anywhere.
About what I said yesterday, that was directed at the original poster, not Christians in general.
Oh, I knew what you were talking about, Jessica, but it's good that you clarified.
anything you say won't bother me. I am going to be the hands and feet of jesus christ and he is the only hope in this world.
For your information cathlics are not true christians. they don't teach the bible.
Who says stop? It's a bit of fun isn't it?
It certainly is fun. the fact that the original poster never stops this is just better for us, because it means the laugh lasts longer.
Wow. Catholics don't teach the bible? I didn't know there was another Holy book of Christianity for them to teach. Thanks for showing us how close-minded some of you freaks can be. Again, that's not all of you.
Yeah, Jessica, both you and lane keys have a valid point.
So yeah, let's have some more fun with this guy, shall we?
And yes, Catholics do teach the Bible, it's just that their form of worship and prayer is a bit different than your ordinary nondenominational Christians.
the cathlicks have left parts of the bible out and things. they preach more about mary than worshiping jesus.
jahova witnesses are totally wrong to.
anyone who believes differently than you is considered wrong in your eyes; we're onto your game, dumbass!!
I am not being closed minded I know for fact what the bible teaches is right. cathlics don't teach full gospel. they preach a watered down gospel that leaves out parts of the bible.
It is not just our nation who is going down the tubes, as far as morals are concerned, it is the entire world. This is a problem worldwide. Looking around you, you'll notice that things have changed since the last ten or even twenty years. Researching some statistics can even show this. Crime has increased, and neighborhoods that were once safe aren't any longer. I've seen the changed take place right in the neighborhood where I grew up, and those changes effected my family directly when my dad was robbed this February at gunpoint for $200. I'm thankful he had the money on them because God knows what could have happened if my dad had nothing to give the robbers. I always shudder and feel sick thinking about what could have happened.
I'd always hear news reports of crime after crime, but I never thought it would effect me. I always felt sorry and sad for those it happened to, but I never felt like it would come close. I was so shocked when it did.
Like everyone else here, I've expressed my true feelings.
Oh, and I forgot to add that my previous post was not at all meant to be a judgment to those who believe differently. It is merely talking about the moral breakdown of the world, which all of us can agree on and notice.
Dumbass. That's a new word for me there. lol Of course I know that you meant dumb ass, but dumbass sounded cool. lol
It's because of inflexibility like that which Rollercoasterfan demonstrates here that I've become so opposed to organized religion. I think if God really had a problem with homosexuality, let's say, he'd have done something about it long before now. The fact that he hasn't would seem to suggest that while he may not have intended us to go that way he's at least accepting that some of us are indeed like that. And while I can sympathize to some extent with your views on abortion I also concede that there are times when it may be necesary, such as when the lives of both the child and the mother would be endangered by continuing the pregnancy or in cases of rape. After all, a woman who is raped and becomes pregnant as a result shouldn't be forced to have the child of the one who hurt her. Yeah there is adoption but even then there's no guarantee that the child would end up in a safe home. A candidate might pass with flying colors and then only after bringing the baby home would their true colors come out. But this is only my opinion and I'll leave it at that. Suffice it to say as Geek Woman said a moment ago it's not just the US that's going down the toilet but the entire world.
RCF, since you live strictly by the bible, maybe you can show us the scripture where you got your encouragement to call someone a stupid fool for not having a job. Thanks in advance. also, You told me that you were going to start some really vicious rumors about me. What part of the bible gave you that motovation, and when will you start them?
I'm going to have to agree that our morals are going down the tube, not just here in the U.S., but also around the world. And it's obvious that you, rcf, are a fundamental Christian. A few years back, I was in a fundamental Baptist church, which I quit going to ages ago because they are too narrow-minded and too extreme. They displayed very little evidence for backing up their claims, i.e. dancing is a sin, because it condones premarital sex and things like that. I don't know about you guys, but dancing and holding hands doesn't make me want to have sex. Therefore, that statement makes no sense to me whatsoever because holding hands doesn't necessarily mean you're going to have sex the moment you do it. This is one reason why I think it's important that you be open-minded, so that when you present your claims, you have evidence to back it up, and people won't think you're full of bullcrap.
And yes, please, give us the scripture where it says you can call us fools who don't have jobs. I've read the Bible for myself, and as far as I know, it's not there.
I'd agree whith the last poster. Every thing sed by you rcf is just a bunch of crap if wher using a bunch of religion to justify modern decissions then wher headed for hell. And let's all just read our littlebibles poke our eyes rock back and forth and be blindees. And after all every thing in life according to you is based on some book, that people threw together for what they wanted to boss people around by and not reality. Which is basically what this topic is.
I alsow thought your post was hilarious Jessica and a grate counter argument to most every one elses statements. Andrew, you want to go bitch at some one than look in the mirror oh the idocracy in this wirld.
If holding hands means you're eventually going to think about sex, think of all those prayer circles where they all stand around holding hands. Guess that's the preview of the orgy? Sorry. I just couldn't resist.
RCF, after reading your crap, I feel the need to appologize to almost every other Christian I've said anything negative about, because they all look way better after this.
I'm sorry, but nothing embarrasses me more than someone who acts like a Christian and is rude at the same time. That makes us look like we're a bunch of boneheads who won't get far in life.
I have a couple things to point out to those who say the world's morals are going down the tubes:
First, one word: Haiti.
Everyone talks about the incredible destruction there, and it's true. However, more people, more nations, and more groups were represented in the relief effort per square mile than any time in history.
People as far away as Turkey showed up to assist.
Neighborhoods and safety? London of the 1600s was so unsafe your gang neighborhoods of today would look squeaky clean in comparison.
And ... let's see:
We don't have public evicerations (guttings), slaves (except for the black market of human trafficking), and we don't just let people die in our streets, as did Mozart in the 1700s due to exposure.
While we have a lot of problems for sure, we no longer have politicians dueling it out on Capitol Hill, slave auctions, lynchings of African-Americans, running down populations with our Army.
Women can compete, own property, are free to get medical help without the consent of the husband, and we are now aware of, if not always responsive to, the problem of child abuse.
Unlike 150 years ago, we don't allow companies to hire five-year-olds to do dangerous work for nearly slave wages.
The list goes on. I realize that those of us who call ourselves Christians are to acknowledge there's an end at some point, but taking a historical view, we seem to be increasingly aware of the rights of downtrodden folks, increasingly capable of thinking about the rights of others beyond our immediate sphere be it hamlet, town, or country.
People talk about black and white relations, but a hundred years ago, many people in small towns were looked down upon for marrying even outside their own town, or a German marrying someone "of a different race," - someone of English descent. So my marriage 100 to 150 years ago could have been at least scandalous.
As to the abortion issue: an estimated 70% of all abortions are conducted for financial reasons: the mother's inability to support herself. So any lawmaker who was at all serious about limiting abortions would support policies that increased the economic viability of women, especially the poor. That is a merely logical conclusion. After all, were I presented a scenario where 70% of a particular crash were caused by a particular phenomenon in the code, I could not on the one hand perpetuate said phenomenon as an engineer, and rail against the crash on the other.
Consequently, I tend to think those who rail against abortion aren't very serious about it, based on the political solutions they put forth. And for what it's worth, I speak as one who most probably would have been aborted had I been conceived a few years later.
There are nongovernment organizations like Crisis Pregnancy Centers, who my wife has donated to, for whom I have a lot of respect: They provide housing and assistance to women seeking help. That is admirable and at least being part of the solution. But anyone who supports outsourcing of any kind should just go get the vacuum or the saline solution and go at it. Anyone supporting any policies that put women at financial risk are at least as guilty, if guilt is issued, as the doctors themselves. As I said, I can't imagine first railing against a particular crash in a system, then perpetuating the code in a development cycle which is causing it, or at least 70% of it.
So, they're not serious about 'pro-life', because if they were, as were their Christian predecessors on the Underground Railroad, they'd support policies that reduced the financial disadvantage of women in that situation. Imagine someone railing against slavery and then supporting the plantation owners. That's not what happened in England with the movement against slavery: no, they stopped purchasing sugar, if that was what it was going to take.
Nobody's saying there's no more good in the world. But evry act of kindness and compassion is matched by a thousand atrocities, both large and small, For every scientist working to find a cure for diseases or every humanitarian working to provide relief for victims of wars or natural disasters there are jus as many thugs willing to hammer someone's skull to apple sauce for a few lousy dollars.
things might have changed but god's word never changes.
people don't reach out to one another and don't help each other in this day and age it seems like.
I have not done anything to anybody on here at all.
it is you guys wwho ansist on causing drama and picking on me for no reason at all.
just like it is very wrong to get drunk it is a sin to get drunk for example.
To rollercoasterfan in post 12: Have you read every single Christian text ever written, particularly all the sacred ones? I'm sure even your people leave alot out, especially the parts about loving your neighbour and showing respect, let alone the ones that are noncannonical. Geek Woman: Oh my Gods wow! I'm so glad that your father is okay. That must've been terrifying. You're right about the world in general. Everything is degrading, but I'd hardly put that at a lack of Christianity. There are many contributing factors, most important, I believe, is the fact that so many children don't have at least one parent staying at home with them when they're young and many don't have good support. That said, I know many parents, from all different religions, who are wonderful to their children and who love and support them as much as possible. To BryanP22 in post 18: Very well said. Excellent points there and thanks for showing respect for those who think differently. Thanks, illumination, for your wonderful insights in post 20. See RCF? Even the Christians don't agree with this nonsense. And dancing is a sin? lol! Maybe, the bit about jobs is in a text that's so noncannonical that it might even be in his own head. *smile* Lol at post 24! Guess so. To LeoGuardian: While you're right in the historical sense, it's not truly fair to compare today's problems to those of yesterday. It's true that most of the things that you mention no longer exist but they've been replaced by other things and there are still enough problems out there about which to complain. Every generation has difficulties. So while we don't have to worry about people dying of exposure or a lack of rights for women, we do have school shootings, people spending so much time on the computer that they're not able to be with their families, women who now have to work, whether they like it or not, and sometimes hold down three jobs to support their family with the husband's help, a lack of rights for homosexuals and cyber crime. While people can't sell children, they can, and sickeningly do, sell and make child porn. And the list goes on, as you said. Agreed about helping women financially but they should also push birth control, if not hormonal than at least condoms. Outsourcing is definitely another modern problem and one that should be addressed if any economic progress is to be made. There are also nuclear and hydrogen bombs and other weapons that didn't exist in the past, which brings a whole new dimention to war. rollercoasterfan: If you truly can't understand why we're against this, perhaps you should have your head examined by a doctor and not of theology.
The problem RCF is that from out end it looks as though you're shoving your beliefs down our throats. And that's absolutely going to get you in trouble with the rest of us.
And Tiffanitsa I definitely TRY to respect others' beliefs. It's when they start trying to ram them down my throat as RCF seems to be doing here that I can get nasty. People are flawed. We always have been and probably always will be. We make mistakes. Always have and probably always will. If some people can't accept that then they're not worth it.
i don't mind bit of trouble i take it for god's sake god will still honer me.
The bible does not miss any facts at all. gods word does not change.
jesus is the the way the truth and the life. everybody needs christ in their lives. he desires that we all will be saved. There is either heaven or hell. hell is for those who don't believe it has fire and it will be very painful and there will be nashing of teeth and it is fire for ever but heaven will be a place of peace we will be able to worship god forever. satan tries to take people down satan is going to hell already when christ comes back that is. reality is there will be a judgement day and everybody will stand before him and christ will judge everybody according to their actions.
I know allot of churches don't reach out like they should but however I found those problems and i seeke to find people who want to do god's work and to help others have a relationship with god. nomatter what you guys say to me i will continue to preach gospel and post devotionals on here the only way you guys will seace me from doing it is by banning me
I don't normally get involved in these things, but Satan's going to hell? I was under the impression that he was already there. Isn't that kinda the point?
Leo, you have a lot of valid points and all that, but I have to agree with Ileni on this. Sure, there were slaves and all that b150 years ago, but think about the atomic bombs and a lot of other weapons that we've come up with in the past 70 years. While it's true that we don't have slavery anymore, we do have the nuclear weapons that can wipe us humans off the face of this earth.
And I think it's good that us Christians encourage unbelievers to come to Christ, but when you shove it down their throats like rcf is doing here, you can get into a heap of trouble. And rcf, you say tha you aren't causing the problem at all, yet you're being rude and calling us a bunch of fools without jobs. You are causing the problem, buddy.
i don't shove it down peoples throats at all christians are thought to share the gospel it is god's calling that believers share the gospel.
Yeah, but it's God's calling for you not to be rude as well.
I would never want to serve whatever god RCF serves that encourages him to call us names and the likes. RCF, if you really want help, have you asked god for it? If so, he's let you down quite terribly, no? If worshiping your god would put me in your position where even the churches don't want you, I think I'm better off where I am. Thanks for your generous offer to help me to become a hipicrit, but I think I'll pass.
Ok, only a few points, and I'll try not to be nasty so no one can say I'm shoving beliefs down their throats or anything like that.
First, yes, we have the atom bomb and all that. However, we don't use them. The weapon of mass destruction hundreds of years ago, was loading dead corpses into catapolts and lobbing them into the city, to spread diseases like smallpox and other such lovely visitors. That practice was not only common, it was expected. That was the atom bomb of the time, and they used it as often as needed. We have restraint. Just my thought.
Second, please, someone explain how christianity can say, the word of god, and say, in jesus name, and have jesus, be the son of god, and still claim to be monotheistic? Please, explain the mathematical equations that cause three, to suddenly equal two. Not that I have anything against polytheistic religions, its just, if your going to have a trenity, don't claim to be monotheistic. Your not. Apolo was son of zeus, and that was polytheistic, so if jesus was son of God, then why isn't christianity polytheistic?
Oh, and why is he just called, God? Now, I don't think he exists, I don't think any gods exist, but that's beside the point here. Every one of the other religions have names for their gods. Allah, yahweh, zeus, ra, thor, all gods with names besides god. Why can't christians show some imagination? Call him, ichkiths or something. Something better than god. So boring.
Agree with Anthony here. I'm not sure about you, but I was taught to be kind to others when I was growing up.
RCF, if your god offers grammar and spelling lessons, I strongly advise that you take them, particularly the bit on punctuation. SilverLightning, that was a very respectful and civilised way of stating your belifs. *smile* I've often wondered about the monotheism of the trinity myself. Even when I studied it in college the idea of Jesus and God equalling one just never made sense to me. I thought that they actually had a name for the Christian god Yaweh, Jahova etc. Please forgive me if I'm mixing up Christianity with Judaism.
Here's the irony about all this:
This is not a devotional!
I don't know about anyone else, but aren't devotionals supposed to bring one closer to God? If one was to classify this as a "sermon" such as it is, I would agree with that, but a devotional? Methinks no...
CM
Those who are interested should look up Bill Keller in Wikipedia. He is described there as a televangelist.
So not only is RCF being rude, he plagerized? Terrific!
Kate, I believe you are right: technically this isn't a devotional. I'm not sure what completely constitutes one, but my wife has written several / keeps a blog for women, and they appear to consist of mainly Scripturesand lessons that make you consider what you're doing, not what society or political powers are doing.
What makes me pause about all topics such as this is the human emotions that seem to always be connected with God. I'm not religious now but I was raised as a Cathlic and attended a Cathlic school for four years, and I was always given to understand that God is bigger than the petty emotions we feel. Yet whenever religious people have a point to make, they say that God loves, God hates, God forgives, God is angered by, etc. So if I'm going to follow that train of thought, I'll say that God created man with the ability to develop and evolve. If the ethics that applied in the time of the bible applied today, the ones that go beyond the basic kindness with which we should treat all others, our society would never have evolved at all, because God wouldn't have allowed it. In short, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
Yes, he plagiarized as well. And if this was a devotional, it would be posted in the religion topic, not the rant board. So this is a rant because we're ranting on about how rude this guy is. It all fits into place. lol
and 90 percent of it is way over his head anyway.
Indeed, it is.
If I were ever to become a Christian, I would not be going to RCF for advice. I would go to one of you who are actually showing some semblance of respect and open-mindedness about this. so, you're trying to spread the word of God, are you? Well, hate to break it to you, but you're actually making it worse, but I wouldn't worry too much about that, since any posts of yours that are written in your own words don't make the slightest bit of sense anyway. My point is that at least the people who wrote the bible actually knew how to write.
so no one can explain why its monotheistic then? Come on, I'm genuinely curious.
i did not write the devotional bill keller did.
I do know how to write and my grammar does not matter.
I wouldn't be the person to ask, since most of the religion as a whole doesn't make much sense to me anyway, but I'm a little biased there.
Well, I don't think that he claimed to write these things himself. He always gives credit to Bill Keller. Still, I second the words of OceanDream. He's only making Christianity look bad, and if I were to ever consider converting, it definitely wouldn't be with him as a guide.
i know more than most of you because my family is christian and that is the way i been brought up. I not only was brought up that way i wanted gods word he is my personal lord and saviour.
Just because i am christian does not mean a christian has to be perfect. except god does give guide lines like for example he tels us not to get drunk and things. Just like god's idea of marriage is between one man and one women. two women getting married is totally against god. same sex marriages are so wrong. When a christian or anybody goes against god's plans the will be held accountable by god when they stand before him on judgement day.
your grammar doesn't matter? What kind of twisted statement is that. Of course your grammar matters. If I stand up in front of a congregation and say, duck rain fish giggle giggle, popsicle rubber band. Bandaid whiskey bottle flapjack. You'd stare at me and wonder what the hell I was talking about. Of course your grammar matters, its all that matters.
I do not make christianity look bad i just say what the bible says as far as marriage and being drunk goes and things.
Ah, so in that case, you don't know then. Here's something I know: You're a follower, blindly following what others have told you to, using this book to guide your entire life. Too bad they didn't teach you worthwhile things while they were at it, like how to write.
Oh, so because you were brought up christian, and your family is christian, you suddenly know more than us? So no one else on this entire site was ever brought up christian? Is that what your saying? Your saying your so much fucking better than us because your precious mommy was a christian, and she tought you everything you know now? Is that the point your trying to make?
Well let me tell you this. I was brought up weslynn, I sat in church every single sunday wednesday and saturday. I've been baptized twice, in two different churches, in two different languages. I've read the bible in foru different versions, from cover to cover. I've sat in lectures from televangelists and listened to sermons in greek from a man who has forgotten more about religion than you'll ever known. I had the teachings shoved down my throat. I had the bible beaten into my head with a belt, had swear words cleansed from my mouth with soap. I experienced everything you can imagine save for stigmata. so don't you dare fucking tell me that you know more than me because you were raised christian. You biased, twisted, stupid piece of religious shit.
How is that you know more than the other Christians on this site? They also read the bible, they also have family and friends, and best of all, their posts about God are actually written in their own words.
I have friends and at my church and I read the bible and I sit under preaching and things.
You sit under preaching and things, what the fuck does that mean? And so you read the bible. Most likely you read the king james version of the bible, which is one of the most inaccurate versions of the bible. Come back when you've read it in hebrew or greek, then you can talk about what the bible actually says. Oh, and I have friends, does that mean I know more than you? I bet I have more friends than you do.
life is not about having friends it is about serving god and living a life for his sake.
I am not perfect but i am willing to lay my life down for god's sake.
So you think that just because you're a Christian, you are smarter than everyone else? Can you prove that to us?
But god is supposed to be an omnipotent and omniciant being. First, if that is true, why would he need you to lay down your life at all, you could hardly exist for all god would care. Second, if he is omnipotent, why can't he just say that evil no longer exists? Why did he create all the things that kill us and make our lives suck? If god created everything, then he created cancer, drugs, nuclear bombs, wife beating husbands, children-beating parents, religious nuts who take up lots of board space. All the things that are bad in this world, god could make totally gone if he wanted to, but he doesn't. Why is that? Why is god so evil?
i am not smarter than you guys but christians have something in their life have the holy spirit in their lives but not many other people have the holy spirit
To SilverLightning: I'm sorry that your experiences have been so horrible. But your knowledge is extremely impressive. Very rarely have I ever met someone who has read The Bible in so many versions and languages and who has been so well-acquainted with Christianity in general. May I ask, if it is appropriate, how it is that you learned these languages and why you read The Bible in them. Did you do this on your own when you were older or was it something that your family forced you to do? I've always wondered which is the most accurate version of the book in English, since there are so many of them. That is, if someone wanted to read a version as close to the original but didn't know Hebrew or Biblical Greek.
well he did not create cancer or people to beat up their kids. that is human nature to beat up people god created us to be people after gods heart adam and eve were the ones that sinned and brought bad things about. adam were the first human beings that god made
I didn't read them in other languages, just different versions. I do know people that have read them in greek however. The most accurate version of the bible is the gutenberg version, which I've never read, and that is only because it was written at a time when those languages were still in common use.
So you just contradicted yourself right there. You said you know more than everyone else, and now you're saying you're not smarter than us. Clearly you aren't making any sense.
so, what you're saying RCF, is that those of us who choose to think for ourselves are worthless without god? don't think so, buddy!!
but it is right without god in our lives we are nothing. he fills the hole in our hearts he is the only god we can put our hope in.
plus it says in the ten commandments that we shall not put any other god before him.
now days people worship money and idols an idol can be a carven image of god and god says stay away from carvin images or don't make even one.
my heart is fine and holeless actually, without god. IN fact, I feel much better now that I've come to realize that god doesn't exist, then when I believed he did, and I'll tel you why. Because when I believed in god, I got let down by god, all the time. I'd pray for help on one thing or another, and follow all the rules, and it wouldn't work. eventually, the teachings of, "its all in god's plan", didn't soothe the wound anymore. Now, I don't get disappointed by anything.
that's your opinion, but I live life just fine without him, by relying on/knowing I'm the only one that can get myself through things.
Sorry, RCF, but you make absolutely no sense. And it's like I've said before, if God was so against homosexuals and homosexuals getting married I'm sure he would have eliminated homosexuality from our make-up long before now. The fact that he hasn't done so would seem to indicate that while he admittedly may not have intended us to go that way, he's at least accepting of it. As far as I'm concerned anyone who calls himself a Christian but displays closed-minded views and intolerance of differing views and lifestyles and whatnot isn't a true Christian. In fact if I were to adopt a religion of my own I'd be tempted to go the same way as Tiffanitsa and opt for the Greek pantheon. True sometimes their punishments were raddically out of proportion to the crime but they weren't without at least some compassion.
I don't have a hole in my heart either. I follow the tods and goddesses of the Hellenic pantheon and am quite satisfied with Their interactions in my life, though I do admit that I could always learn more and give back to Them more frequently.
RCF, is god speaks to you so vehemently, why hasn't he given you any answers to the numerous questions we've been asking you? Why do you have to constantly repeat the same thing over and over again?
I don't put any other god before...."God". I put myself and my closest loved ones before anything else, and certainly before a so-called "God" we've never seen. the only thing I might put this god's worth before is you.
i am not closed minded or narrow minded at all.
I am willing to die for god's sake. it says right in the bible that christians will be pursacuted and will have to stand in court for his name. Jesus says do not fear because it is me that they are pursacuting not you.
If you can't tolerate other views and beliefs, you might as well get off the zone and never come back again.
yeah, but oddly, when the romans used christians as human torches in the gladitorial fights, it was them they were burning, not jesus. It sounds to me like this jesus guy is a lot of talk and not a lot of walk. "Its not you, its me", "I'll protect you". Where's the beef jesus?
and you're also willing to continue pushing your beliefs on those of us who don't believe. what a nice, respectful person you are...not.
If he's real, why doesn't he just show his face and prove it to us.
you guys will have to put up with this because i will get banned for god's sake as well
RCF, you badmouth your parrents, and the bible specifically says to honor them. How do you explain your disobedience? You still haven't answered even one of my questions. what part of the bible told you to start vicious rumors about me? What part of the bible told you to call a person a worthless fool for not having a job? you go to church, but by your own admition, the church doesn't want you, so why would you continue to go?
i am willing to keep posting devotionals and stuff in the rant board. i will keep doing it for a long time so everyday you guys will be having a heated discussion so get used to it
yeah, cuz I'm sure god really cares if you belong to this site or not. I'm sure you looking like an ass and us totally slaughtering you with questions you can't answer, is a glory to him.
ooh, you mean I get to do this every day? Awesome!
i don't talk badly about my parents anymore. actually when i am not on the zone i am a whole different person
i am a more loving of a person outside of the zone
And how respectful, RCF!
ah, so you lie on here? Thou shall not lie. You sinful sinful person you. Your going to hell, to HELL! Lying is a one way ticket to hell, its even higher than adultary on the "go directly to hell, do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars" scale.
You're a more loving person? I don't believe that for a second.
RCF, if you cannot be loving on the zone as well as in real life, then what right do you have to preach about it? Read the passages about pastors/teachers in 1 Timothy and Titus
i don't have friends on here so it does not matter
riiiight...
But aren't you supposed to preach to those who don't believe, which would probably mean anyone who isn't your friend? Therefore, shouldn't you be nice to us, and not so nice to your friends?
You're going to post more of these? Awesome. Bring it on! I can't wait to see it. Post another one right now if you want. Just more chances to make you look like an ass!
RCF, you obviously are quite a disturbed individual, and I do feel quite sorry for you. Just know that your attempts to bring people closer to your hateful god are not working. So, your idea of being a shining light in a world of darkness is to come on here and spread hatred? I will pray for you.
I know, right? Good post.
Nice one, Anthony.
This is rather amusing. I find it funny that he can't even answer a simple question. Can't or chooses not to.
My apologies. Of course, that should have read gods and goddesses in my last post. My keyboard is being very annoying today.
To OceanDream: While I put The Gods before everything, it goes like this for me. Gods, country, boyfriend, immediate family, friends. The reason why I put boyfriend before family is because I was taught that when you seriously choose a partner, they become your family. But they're pretty much equal to me, at least right now. Extended family doesn't enter my thoughts as we don't associate with them. The Gods come before country in my mind because They're responsible for everything. So without Them, there would be no world let alone country. But if a god/goddess ever came down and told me that, for whatever reason, it was decided that Greece would be destroyed, I wouldn't give up the love of my country, even though I would know that it would be damned.
To rollercoasterfan: At last, something in common! I too would be willing to die rather than renounce my belief in The Gods. But I'm still respectful towards those who don't believe in Them because this is a choice.
To SilverLightning: lol Good point! I mean, at least admit that your followers will be persecuted for their beliefs. Don't try to say that they're only after you.
To devilish Anthony: I would love to have the answers to those questions too. All of the strict Christians whom I've ever known were afraid to even think anything bad about their parents and would certainly never dream of bad-mouthing them. Same goes with starting rumours. I don't think any good Christian would do a thing like that.
To rollercoasterfan: So does that mean you're tolerant, understanding, respectful and intelligent or does that just mean that you talk about things other than God? If you're truly more loving outside The zone, then why do you feel it necessary to change your personality once you come on here? Don't you think that a more loving attitude would win more people over or at least get us to stop fighting with you? A good Christian stays the same whther he has friends or not. Not having friends is no excuse to act and talk the way you do. In fact, it's even worse to do that among strangers! How are they supposed to see all the great things you're saying about God if you yourself aren't showing them?
He's just here for the drama. I think he actually likes it.
He encourages us to fight. This is what he longs for. In his own lost world, he feels that he can't make a difference. On the zone, he can drop a rock in the water and watch the waves. Poor guy.
i can't help not coming back to the zone because i am adickted to it. it would actually help me allot if i was banned
Why banned? You've shown us that you condone drama and that you like seeing it, so why get banned?
i don't like dramma i don't cause dramma
This is your weakness, your downfall, this is the place where you can come and show your true self. but remember, in spite of it all, even when you thrive on demeaning and disrespecting us and driving us away from God, he loves you.
You don't like or cause drama? Then why did you say you were going to post these topics every day so we would all have heated discussions? You really
are quite a sad case. You don't even know your own mind.
just like doug is a horrible horrid stupid peace of junk
the cl's don't care to ban me it would actually be a help to me if i was banned.
if a member instructs to be banned themselves they should be honered with a banning
anthany quit putting me down you are a sad case yourself get off of the you little brat
i want my request to be banned honered
RCF, don't dish it if ya can't take it.
i did not dish anything out
you guys all make fun of me. you guys never would help me or sanything with blind related stuff.
the zone should be a place where people come for help.
instead you guys just keep causing dramma and things.
you guys are the ones that are being the hipocrits
just like doug is a horrible horrid stupid peace of junk
Spoken like a true christian. And then you wonder why christianity is beginning to lose it hold and appeal. Oh well. God will deal with you, in his own time.
Have you noticed, RCF, that if anyone is on your side, they don't stay there for more than a couple of minutes?
I normally don't believe in psychologists, but I strongly advise you to see one. You seem to be a child and a lonely, confused, sad and frustrated one at that. I pitty you.
Agree with Ileni.
RCF, here's a thought. You say you can't stay away from the zone. Why not ask your god to help you. He's all powerful and will protect you if you ask. No?
Yeah, perhaps, he'll break your computer for you to save you from the addiction and us from the insanity! *smile*
Eleni
Did it ever occur to you that the reason nobody helps you and whatnot is because you don't appreciate it when they try? It would certainly sound like it. You respond by trying to shove your religious convictions down their throats, then flying into a tantrum when they question them. So it's not everyone else causing the drama but you. We're hust responding with sardonic amusement to the riddiculous things you say but then can't back up.
RCF,
I suppose I shouldn't be, but I am floored by your actions. You say you want people to believe in Jesus. That's fine and good.
Any testimony you had about his grace in your life has been thrown out the window by calling people brats and worthless pieces of junk, even if they aren't involved in this discussion.
And you know why you want to be banned? So that you can say that you were banned for the cause of Christ, and you can play the martyr. Those who spilled their own INNOCENT blood for the name of Christ would hate this if they knew what you were doing.
Kate
Doug is a stupid horrible piece of junk? that had absolutely nothing to do with the conversation at hand, which proves you really don't know what to say, and if you do, start proving it.
I just have one thing to say, and I feel it is possibly the most important point in this entire argument, including the existence of god. It is a point so powerful, that none will be able to refute it, and all will glory at my ability to make such powerful points. It is a statement so valid, so unbelievably true that it will shake this board to the core, and none shall fight any longer and all will believe in my wonderful observational skills, and the point is this:
It is drama, with one M, only one, and a singular one at that. It is not, as has been stated, dramma, with a duplicate M. there is only one M, and the number of the M's sahll be one. It shall stand along as its own indevidual M, and raise its sword on high and shout to the world, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE M IN THE WORD DRAMA!
That is my point, and you may all begin to roll on the floors of your indevidual bedrooms/living rooms/bus stations at this time. Thank you, and have a nice day.
Indeed. Nor is it dram'm'm'm'm'm'm'ma. But if he refuses to accept any differing views on religion or any other topic he won't accept this. At least he provides a modicum of entertainment.
Technically, it's δράμα. No, your synthesizer didn't go nuts. I just wrote in Greek. Oddly enough, the letters are actually the same here as the d sound is soft not hard, so it's delta and not ni taf to make the hard sound. I will now proceed to laugh hartily at the sheer brilliant post from SilverLightning!
lol And the tonos goes on the alpha! Had to add that. I hate when people write in Greek without using the tonos (the one accent mark in the monotonic system).
This thread has generated a ridiculous amount of posts. The sheer volume of people responding to this drama is really just making me shake my head.
As for RCF, I think you need some serious help. It's obvious you can't make your own judgments, nothing you write makes one damn bit of sense, and judging by your claims of being addicted to the zone you should really consider some counseling. Perhaps through therapy you can learn to form your own set of beliefs, and not just to copy and paste something you think looks good or intelligent when you have absolutely no understanding of it.
And the reason it has generated a ridiculous amount of posts is because we're having fun laughing at all this nonsense. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
lol
I love this!
And yeah, rcf bitch bring more of this on, like others have already said to make yourself look like an ass and shove more of this shit down people's throat when you don't know what the hell your talking about, so when you can change your diarrhea to something we want to smell, then post all you want.
Yeah. Muahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Mwahahahahahahahahahaha!
So tell us, rcf, why are you so rude? You never really answered that question and it has been asked several times. If you're a Christian, why are you so rude?
Because I could not sleep and was just curious as to where this thread went, I decided to take a look. Wow at all of the posts! I also thought I'd give my opinions/beliefs/feelings/convictions based on what I've seen in this discussion thus far, and I'll do my best to use the Bible to back them up because that is my foundation.
1. I do not at all condone spreading malicious gossip and rumors about a person, even if the individuals is my enemy. I'm not perfect, but I can confidently say that I never, ever, ever have done such a thing. Even from a small child.
Proverbs 17:20, The crooked heart will not prosper; the lying tongue tumbles into trouble.
Proverbs 20:19, "A gossip goes around telling secrets, so don’t hang around with chatterers."
Proverbs 20:23, "The Lord detests double standards; he is not pleased by dishonest scales."
Proverbs 11:12,13, It is foolish to belittle one’s neighbor; "a sensible person keeps quiet. A gossip goes around telling secrets,
but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence."
2. I'm strongly against abortion for any reason. No matter the circumstance, I'll never get an abortion. I couldn't even kill my baby because I was raped because my child should not be punished for that reason. The rapist would be the one to be punished. My baby would be innocent, a beautiful thing that came from a bad circumstance. And if my life were at risk, I'd still not kill my baby to save my own life. I strongly feel that is very selfish, and I'd never be able to live with that. I liken it to a mom taking a bullet for her babies to survive. Just as she'd take the bullet for her children, I'd take the sacrifice so my baby can live, even if it means I don't. And if I were financially unstable, I'd have to do what I can to find a way to support my family like many millions have in times passed, and I'll have to leave it in the hands of Jehovah God and trust in him implicitly. A baby is a life that is so precious and a gift from God, and life begins at conception.
Psalm 139:13-17, "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me,[b]O God.
They cannot be numbered!"
3. i'm respectful to those who do not believe as I do. The Bible tells us that we must respectfully talk about our faith and do it in a way that does not rip the person's dignity away.
1 Peter 3:15-17, "Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!"
Proverbs 15:1, "A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare."
4. God does have a name, and his name is Jehovah. It can be found in the King James 1611 Bible four times. It has appeared thousands of times in older translations, as well as still appears in some written today; yet, it has been removed from newer ones and others, hence the reason that "LORD" and "GOD" appear in all capitals like it does here in between these quotes. There is where Jehovah would be. I have always found that to be pretty interesting.
5. I do not believe in a trinity, nor do I believe that God and Jesus are equal. I've read the Bible numerous times, and the word "trinity" never appears, and a careful read of the scriptures shows us that Jesus is definitely not equal to the Father. Many times, Jesus talks about doing his Father's will, and he makes it clear that his father is greater than he is. There are even places in the Bible where Jesus is referred to as a servant. Some of you all probably think I'm crazy. LOL Please let me explain. (Smiles) Jesus needed to shed his blood for us because he was the only person who could pay the ransom for what Adam has done in an equal way, just as a ransomer would want a ransom to be paid. When we think of a ransom, we think of it meaning that we are paying a price that is equal to the value of what is being held in place of the ransom. In this case, everlasting life was being held from us, and it was because a perfect man, Adam, forfeited this. So, since a perfect man forfeited this, another perfect individual needed to be offered up as a means of paying the ransom, so we can attain everlasting life. None of us could pay the ransom because we could not measure up due to our imperfections. And you are probably asking why I pray in Jesus' name and why I believe in him, well that is because he is the way to the Father, similarly as a receptionist is the way to the executive that we may need to speak with. It is like going up the chain of command, so to speak. So, when I say prayers, I do say them in the name of Jesus, so I can be sure they get to the Father, Jehovah God. He is also the way to the father because the father uses him to get things done, as he was used to set an example for us to follow and has died so we can live. The Kingdom will also be carried out through him. I hope I explained all of this okay.
Matthew 12:18-21, "Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, who pleases me. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public. He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious. And his name will be the hope
of all the world."
John 17:1-8, "After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.5Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.
“I have revealed you[a]to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you, for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me."
Finally, I want to end my stating that yes, I'm a Christian who tries very hard to live in accordance with the Scriptures. However, I will also freely admit that there are many times I've done things I'm ashamed of, and I'm going to continue to make mistakes every single day. These are the times that I beg humbly for forgiveness. That is where the sacrifice of Jesus comes in. The Bible was not written for those who are perfect, and Jesus did not shed his blood for those who have never sinned. I'll end with the Scripture that backs up this claim.
Matthew 9:10-13, Later, Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. 11But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?”
When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do." Then he added, "Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’[e]For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
I can't say I've ever felt ashamed for not living for God, but to each their own.
I sure as hell haven't felt ashamed; I'll go so far as to say I was ashamed when I acted like I believed in something I know doesn't exist.
The drama on both sides of this argument on here lately is absurd. Live and let live?
That's the point. RCF apparently isn't willing to do that. And when people get jumped on for disagreeing with someone else's beliefs, particularly in as immature a manner as RCF does, they're going to fight back. Childish I'll admit but it's human nature.
To Geek Woman: Very interesting views. I like how you used The Bible intelligently and with respect towards others, to back up your views. In this case, it certainly makes sense to do so. I therefore ask these questions respectfully, not to insult. You say that you'd be willing to die in order to give birth. What if he/she is sent to a foster home and abused, or worse, is adopted and abused? Some families are so poor that they have to live in boxes, cars or shelters. Some live in the projects where they're constantly worried about being raped, mugged, beaten or killed. Would you really want to bring up a child in that environment? I'd never heard that passage about being respectful with those who follow different religions. That's so cool! how is it that so many ancients missed that point? Do these passages exist in the original Bible as well? That's fascinating about Jehovah. Why on Earth would they remove the name? Your views on Jesus were explained very clearly. I certainly don't think your crazy but your ideas are certainly different and refreshing. So do you believe that he was a mortal chosen by God to be a sacrifice or that he was divine in some way but a separate being from God?
Hi Tiffanitsa,
I do not find it at all to be in insult to ask questions. I mean, if nobody asked questions, it would be impossible for learning and sharing to take place. So, I'll do my very best to answer the questions that you asked.
1. I'd still bring my baby into the world. I'd not put my child into a foster home, but I'd care for my child because that is my baby. My baby would not find itself in the system where abuse is certain to take place. I'd care for that baby--even though it is from a rape--and I'd love that baby unconditionally as I would any other child I bring into this world because that baby would be innocent. Now, should something happen where I'd be unable to care for my child--and that would have to be a very, very severe circumstance because I feel that since my child is a gift from God, I'd do everything in my power to care for it because that would be my obligation as a parent--I'd give my child to one of my relatives or a trusted friend. I'm so grateful that I do have those to turn to. Now, if I died as a result of not terminating the pregnancy, it would have to be left in the hands of God. I go back to the point that I made in a previous post about abortion how a mom would gladly take the bullet for her children who are already alive and out of the womb, and there is a chance that their lives could be substandard as a result of letting them stay alive. But because the mom loved her children, she'd take the bullet. I don't know of any mom who'd stand aside and let her children be shot so she could live. So, I'd not kill my baby so that I could live. Should that happen to me--God I hope not--I know that there are plenty of people who'd gladly take my child. But abortion, no matter what, would still not be an option.
2. Concerning the passage about being respectful to others, no matter their beliefs, I believe that that message is in the original Bible, if I'm not mistaken. But even if it were not, Jesus set a perfect example as to how believers should conduct themselves. Jesus was nice to all sorts of people, even to those who were regarded as disreputable by other religious leaders during his time. I do my best to follow this example.
3. Concerning Jesus, I believe Jesus to be a separate, devine being that was created in the beginning before all the other angels were created before the world began to be Jehovah God's son and to be his master worker that would work alongside him in all things. If we read the Bible carefully, we can see that in the beginning, when the world was being created, Jesus and God were together because Genesis 1:26 stated "Let's make man in our image." Our would mean that there is more than one person there and that humankind would be created in the image of more than one individual, which makes it hard for me to believe in the trinity, which states that Jesus and God are one. Eventually, Jehovah God would require that Jesus become man--a perfect man--and die in place of Adam in order to pay the ransom so that we may come to the Father and have everlasting life. In one of the passages that I posted in the previous post, John 17:1-8, we can see that Jesus was ready to go back to the Father, just as he did in the days before the world began. Jesus was happy to complete all of the work that the Father gave him to do, but he was ready to go to the heavens, where he dwelled with his Father in a loving father and son relationship for goodness knows how long.
I hope that I've done okay in answering your questions. If you have more to ask or need clarification on something I said, feel free to ask. I don't mind at all. (smiles) It is my pleasure.
Well, I'm glad this topic has taken on a more constructive tone. Yes, there's drama on both sides, and yes, it's childish; I'll admit that, but we had our fun. It's getting boring now, at least with this topic, but it was fun while it lasted.
Agreed with Jessica. There's over 140 posts on this thread, so people who look at it in the future may be amused with this drama, but it is getting old.
Yeah, I thought I'd try to add something sensible to the discussion. It was a pleasure to share my beliefs.
rcf, why don't you just keep it in your church? You make me sick and I am willing to bet you have no friends with the shit you spew.
Oh I'm sure he doesn't. He sure sounds pathetic and sad on his audio profile. Sorry, but someone had to say it.
Hmmm, might have to take a listen to that...
Me too.
I have. Definitely accurate, in my opinion.
It sounds almost like he created a model talker voice of his own voice to use for his profile; it sounds so monotone.
Wow. Never even thought of that. I've thought about doing one of my own voice to use as a screen reader voice but I figured it'd get annoying after a while.
Yeah, and it'd probably sound awful sped up.
I don't doubt it.
It would be interesting, however.
Bah! This Bill Keller person is an idiot! I'm not going to go through and dissect this post, because Eleni already did that quite nicely, and I agree with her sentiments. It shouldn't be called devotional, though; it ought to be called 'vitriolic and pointless condemnation'. Lol. Enough said.
Hmm... I will throw my hat in this topic and just say Geek woman you impressed me in which your beliefs are laid out. RCF this is the only thing I will say man! please stop! giving Christ a face in which he does not deserve meaning if I look at you I do not see Christ, I see a hateful lonely person who needs help. So with that RCF please go look fore a better look on life or its going to bee a long one.
good advice.
Thank you! Yes Christ did take on the farisies, flat out argued with them yet he however did not out right speak in a tone that conveyed hatred. Also as I close here my last post on this board! I happyly stand corrected by people like geek woman who acutally does her biblical research. smile!
